Exciting plans to create a new community facility for West Mon RFC at Skew Fields in Pontypool have been welcomed by the area’s MS.
Natasha Asghar MS, who represents South East Wales, visited the site recently and met with representatives behind the proposed scheme.
The new facility will include changing and shower rooms, toilets, kitchen and a meeting room – which the whole community will be able to use.
Planning permission has already been obtained for the building and car park to be built on the site just off the A472 and now the attention has turned to funding.
Natasha Asghar MS said:
“These exciting proposals will be a huge benefit not only to the sports clubs who use the field, but also to the wider community.
“It was great to see the site and talk with those behind the scheme at great lengthy recently and see how I can help them get shovels into the ground.
“Intensive talks are ongoing about funding and I am keeping my fingers crossed for the future of this fantastic project.”

Mae cynlluniau cyffrous i greu cyfleuster cymunedol newydd ar gyfer Clwb Rygbi West Mon ar Gaeau Sgiw ym Mhont-y-pŵl wedi cael eu croesawu gan Aelod o’r Senedd yr ardal.
Ymwelodd Natasha Asghar AS, sy'n cynrychioli De Ddwyrain Cymru, â'r safle yn ddiweddar a chyfarfod â chynrychiolwyr y tu ôl i'r cynllun arfaethedig.
Bydd y cyfleuster newydd yn cynnwys ystafelloedd newid a chawod, toiledau, cegin ac ystafell gyfarfod – y bydd y gymuned gyfan yn gallu eu defnyddio.
Mae caniatâd cynllunio eisoes wedi ei dderbyn ar gyfer yr adeilad a'r maes parcio ar y safle ychydig oddi ar yr A472 a nawr mae'r sylw wedi troi at gyllid.
Dywedodd Natasha Asghar AS:
“Bydd y cynigion cyffrous hyn o fudd enfawr nid yn unig i’r clybiau chwaraeon sy’n defnyddio’r cae, ond hefyd i’r gymuned ehangach.
“Roedd yn wych gweld y safle a siarad â’r rhai y tu ôl i’r cynllun yn hir iawn yn ddiweddar a gweld sut y gallaf eu helpu i fwrw ymlaen â’r prosiect.
“Mae trafodaethau dwys yn parhau am gyllid ac rwy’n croesi fy mysedd dros ddyfodol y prosiect gwych hwn.”
