Major plans to build a new £390m manufacturing facility in South East Wales have taken a huge step forward this week.
Natasha Asghar, the Senedd Member for South East Wales, has welcomed the news that Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council has unanimously given CiNER Glass UK’s project the green light.
CiNER Glass UK is now poised to build a glass container manufacturing facility, which uses recycled glass, at the Rassau Industrial Estate to the north of Ebbw Vale.
Around 600 highly skilled jobs are set to be created and between 400-500 jobs will be created during the construction phase.
It is expected the facility will start producing glass in 2026.
Natasha Asghar MS said:
“This is truly fantastic news for South East Wales – and the country as a whole – with thousands of new jobs set to be created.
“CiNER Glass UK’s ambitious project will be a real shot in the arm for the area and will be one of the largest investments we have seen for decades.
“I hope the project progresses full-throttle and wish CiNER Glass UK all the best with this fantastic facility. I can’t wait to see it in action when the doors open in a few years.”
