A colourful festive creation designed by eight-year-old Alycia Thomas claimed top spot in Natasha Asghar’s Christmas card competition.
The South East Wales politician visited Milton Primary School in Newport to congratulate Alycia and give her a prize for winning the annual competition.
Hundreds of schoolchildren from across the region took part in this year’s competition, submitting a vast array of wonderful creations.
However, it was Alycia’s artwork – featuring Father Christmas, a snowman, the Grinch, and a reindeer – that stood out for Natasha.
Natasha Asghar MS said:
“I would just like to say a huge thank you to every pupil across South East Wales who took part in my Christmas card competition this year.
“There were some fantastic entries and it was an extremely difficult job picking a winner, but Alycia’s colourful design really grabbed my attention.
“Alycia’s design should be arriving through letter boxes now and her piece of work will be seen by thousands across the region as well as MPs, the First Minister, the Prime Minister, and King Charles III.
“My congratulations once again to Alycia and thanks to all who took the time to showcase their wonderful art skills.”
