Senedd Member for South East Wales, Natasha Asghar MS, has tabled a Statement of Opinion calling on the Welsh Government to do all it can to fight racism and to stamp out discrimination in sport.
Natasha Asghar said:
“Like many people in Wales I sat down to watch the Euro 2020 Final between England and Italy.”
“I was shocked by the disgraceful racist abuse directed at English Football players from ethnic minority backgrounds by sections of the crowd following England’s defeat.”
“Equally appalling are some of the comments made on social media and it is time social media operators took responsibility and banned abusers from their platforms”
“There is no place for racism in sport and we must work together to stamp out discrimination in all its forms from sport in Wales.”
