Online safety was a big topic of conversation during the meeting with TikTok outlining some of the work they have been doing to keep users safe.
One of Natasha’s main ambitions is to see more young people from across South East Wales look at careers within the social media and tech industry.
She was particularly pleased to hear about TikTok’s project designed to support people get into a job in the creative industries.
In partnership with Catch22, the project offers participants an employability course, online courses, access to a career coach, the opportunity to build their industry specific skills as well as work experience and job fairs.
Speaking after the visit, Natasha Asghar MS said:
“It was a fantastic opportunity to visit TikTok’s new headquarters in London and find out more about some of the great work the company is doing – particularly around online safety and getting more people into tech related jobs.
“Of course, when it comes to online safety we can always do more, but I really do applaud TikTok for the measures they’ve put in place and the steps they have already taken.
“I am determined to bring tech and social media giants to Wales and create more opportunities for people in Wales and I look forward to working closely with TikTok going forward.”
