Natasha Asghar MS has been appointed the Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Education following a recent reshuffle in the Welsh Parliament.
The South Wales East politician's new role was confirmed today as Welsh Conservative leader Darren Millar MS unveiled his top team.
Natasha takes up her new position after serving as Shadow Minister for Transport since her election to the Welsh Parliament in 2021.
Commenting on the reshuffle announcement, Natasha Asghar MS said:
"It has been an absolute pleasure to serve as Shadow Minister for Transport and I have enjoyed every minute of it, but I am thrilled to take up the education brief and can't wait to hit the ground running.
"Thanks to decades of Labour mismanagement, our education system isn't delivering as it should be with 20% of pupils leaving primary school illiterate, Wales' PISA results hitting rock bottom, violence in classrooms leading to teacher walkouts, and absenteeism soaring.
"Over the coming months, I will be campaigning for much-needed improvements and setting out my vision for education in Wales because our children, teachers and all school staff deserve better."
