Natasha Asghar, Senedd Member for South Wales East, joined the celebrations at Le Pub on Newport High Street recently.
Le Pub, a cornerstone of the local music scene for 33 years, was celebrating its future being secured after being acquired by the Music Venue Properties (MVP) group as part of their Own Our Venues programme.
The historic venue, which also received funding through the former UK Conservative Government’s Community Ownership Fund, is now in a position to expand, creating more jobs and hosting more live gigs.
Natasha raised Le Pub’s success with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy in the Senedd, highlighting the positive impact on Newport’s night-time economy.
Commenting after her visit, Natasha said:
“I am delighted to celebrate the long-term future of Le Pub and the boost it will bring to the local economy.
“As someone born and raised in Newport, I understand the importance of live performance venues to the city’s vibrant music scene.
“It’s fantastic to see funding put to such good use, securing not only Le Pub’s future but also Newport’s standing as one of Wales’ key live music hotspots.”
