Natasha Asghar, Senedd Member for South East Wales, has backed plans by The City of Newport Model Engineering Society to expand and to source greener energy solutions after visiting their site at the Glebelands.
The City of Newport Model Engineering Society is a not for profit Limited Company that aims to provide a focus for Model Engineering in the Newport area. This includes supporting both established model engineers and newcomers to the hobby in search of development.
Natasha is also providing assistance to the Society as they seek Charitable status.
Natasha Asghar said:
“The City of Newport Model Engineering Society has been let down during the pandemic and their calls for funding have been ignored.”
“Like many seasonal organisations, they have not been able to open to the public since 2019, resulting is a financial loss for them and disappointment for their visitors.”
“Funding would allow members to use cleaner energy solutions and expand their current site to allow for more visitors to enjoy their facilities.”
“I would like to thank Phil Pritchard and the City of Newport Model Engineering Society for allowing me to visit and hear about the challenges facing them and other organisations across Wales.”
“I wish them every success in the future and hope that their calls for funding are approved as it will be a great benefit for their members and local visitors who enjoy the site.”
