"“ We want our regular bus service back!”
That was the message given to Local Senedd Member, Natasha Asghar, yesterday (6 December) when she met Allt-yr-Yn residents demanding the return of their regular bus service.
Natasha met a large group of senior citizens at the bus stop on Ridgeway Hill in the city to hear their complaints about the Fflecsi bus service and their demand that the hourly number 1 bus service that used to be in operation be reinstated.
Natasha Asghar said:
“ Yesterday (6 December) I met a large group of residents living in Allt-yr-Yn who have serious concerns and complaints about bus services in the area.”
“The majority were complaining about the withdrawal of the hourly Number 1 service on which they used to rely to get to the town centre and Hospital appointments.”
“The group were mainly senior citizens and some had mobility and other health issues.”
“From our discussions it was apparent that the current Fflecsi service is not serving the needs of the community. There were serious complaints about the reliability of the service, about customers having booked the service then being refused admission and elderly passengers with mobility issues being forced off the bus at inconvenient dropping off points.”
“During the meeting I saw a man in an invalid carriage waiting for the Fflecsi bus in the rain. It turned up 20 minutes late and was empty.”
“In my opinion these senior citizens are being disadvantaged and discriminated against.
“Consequently, their quality of life is being damaged by the lack of a regular hourly bus service and I wholeheartedly support their call for it to be reinstated.”
“They simply cannot be expected to pay £5/£6 for a taxi ride on a regular basis as they are being forced to do at the moment.”
“I have written to Newport Transport and the City Council to request the return of this regular hourly service and hope to pursue this with a public meeting in the New Year.”

Asghar yn cyfarfod preswylwyr yng Nghasnewydd sydd am weld eu gwasanaeth bws rheolaidd yn dychwelyd
“Rydyn ni eisiau ein gwasanaeth bws rheolaidd yn ôl!”
Dyna oedd y neges a roddwyd i Natasha Asghar, Aelod o’r Senedd lleol, ddoe (6 Rhagfyr) pan ymwelodd â phreswylwyr Allt-yr-Yn sy’n mynnu bod eu gwasanaeth bws rheolaidd yn cael ei adfer.
Cafodd Natasha gwmni grŵp mawr o bobl oedrannus yn y safle bws ar Ridgeway Hill yn y ddinas i glywed eu cwynion am y gwasanaeth bws Fflecsi a’u dyhead i weld y gwasanaeth bws rhif 1 bob awr a arferai redeg yn cael ei adfer.
Meddai Natasha Asghar:
“Ddoe (6 Rhagfyr), fe wnes i gyfarfod grŵp mawr o breswylwyr sy’n byw yn Allt-yr-Yn sydd â phryderon difrifol a chwynion am wasanaethau bws yn yr ardal.”
“Roedd y rhan fwyaf yn cwyno am y penderfyniad i roi’r gorau i’r gwasanaeth Rhif 1 bob awr yr oedden nhw’n arfer dibynnu arno i gyrraedd canol y dref ac apwyntiadau Ysbyty.”
“Pobl oedrannus oedd yno’n bennaf a rhai oedd â phroblemau symudedd ac iechyd eraill.”
“O’n trafodaethau, roedd hi’n amlwg nad yw’r gwasanaeth Fflecsi presennol yn bodloni anghenion y gymuned. Roedd cwynion difrifol am ddibynadwyedd y gwasanaeth, am gwsmeriaid wedi archebu’r gwasanaeth ac yna’n cael eu rhwystro rhag mynd ar y bws, a theithwyr hŷn gyda phroblemau symudedd yn cael eu gorfodi oddi ar y bws mewn mannau gollwng anghyfleus.”
“Yn ystod y cyfarfod gwelais ddyn ar sgwter i berson anabl yn aros am y bws Fflecsi yn y glaw. Cyrhaeddodd 20 munud yn hwyr ac roedd yn wag.”
“Yn fy marn i mae’r bobl oedrannus hyn dan anfantais ac yn destun gwahaniaethu.
“Yn sgil hynny, mae ansawdd eu bywydau yn dioddef oherwydd diffyg gwasanaeth bws rheolaidd bob awr ac rwy’n cefnogi eu galwad am iddo gael ei adfer.”
“Does dim modd disgwyl iddyn nhw dalu £5/£6 am dacsi yn rheolaidd fel maen nhw’n gorfod ei wneud ar hyn o bryd.”
“Rydw i wedi ysgrifennu at Newport Transport a Chyngor y Ddinas i fynnu bod y gwasanaeth rheolaidd bob awr hwn yn dychwelyd ac rwy’n gobeithio codi hyn mewn cyfarfod cyhoeddus yn y Flwyddyn Newydd.”
