South Wales East Senedd Member, Natasha Asghar, was a guest at the Talking Shop Democratic and Cultural Centre, which hosted a “Meet Your Senedd Member” event at their Blackwood High Street venue.
During the session, Natasha was quizzed by Talking Shop users on issues ranging from public transport, anti-social behaviour, and the new Senedd voting system.
All ages were represented during the session, which was organised by Talking Shop founder Yvonne Murphy. The aim of the project is to transform cultural and democratic participation through creativity, one conversation at a time.
Following the event, Natasha said:
“I was delighted to have joined Talking Shop to engage with my constituents in Blackwood.
“As a politician, I love meeting people, chatting about my job, and emphasising the importance of taking part in politics and trusting that their voice, from whatever background they come from, will be heard.
“The Talking Shop project helps facilitate such conversations and meetings, allowing anyone to pop in, learn about the importance of taking part in the democratic process, and meet people with different views.
“I fielded some tough questions today, but it was great that those present got the chance to ask them and address the issues that were important to them.
“I wish Yvonne and her team every success with their Blackwood site and look forward to seeing many more Talking Shops spring up around Wales.”
