Natasha Asghar MS has raised a mug in support of Macmillan’s coffee morning and is encouraging residents across South East Wales to do the same.
Staff from the cancer charity held a coffee morning in the Senedd this week, giving Members of the Senedd a chance to find out more about how Macmillan is supporting people living with cancer.
The annual coffee morning – now in its 32nd year – raises vital funds for Macmillan services to make sure people living with cancer get the physical, emotional, and financial support they need.
Natasha Asghar MS said:
“I am extremely proud to continue my support for Macmillan’s coffee morning and I would encourage residents across South East Wales to get involved too by organising an event or by simply attending one.
“A cancer diagnosis can turn someone’s world upside down, but it is vital charities like Macmillan which are on hand to support people during their hour of need.
“Money raised through a coffee morning will go a long way in helping people with cancer live their life as fully as they can and I’d urge everyone to get involved with this fantastic cause.”
Richard Pugh, Head of Services for Macmillan Cancer Support in Wales, said:
“It’s fantastic to be able to meet our Members of the Senedd face-to-face again at the Senedd. We would like to offer Natasha Asghar MS our heartfelt thanks for their support for our event.
“It’s no exaggeration to say Macmillan and people with cancer have never needed the public’s help more than we do right now. Cancer affects people’s whole lives – health, money, family job; everything.
“More than 98% of Macmillan’s funding comes directly from donations, and thousands of people could miss out on vital care from our nurses, much needed financial support through Macmillan grants, or the ability to access trusted information and support in-person, online or at the end of the telephone without the public's continued support for our Coffee Morning fundraiser.
“There is no single or right way to hold a coffee morning – it can be whatever you make it, and it can be held when suits you best. We really hope people will pull out all the stops to do just that.”
Macmillan’s Coffee Morning this year falls on Friday 30 September but local events can be held throughout the year.

Mae Nathasha Asghar AS wedi codi cwpan i gefnogi bore coffi Macmillan ac mae’n annog preswylwyr ledled De-Ddwyrain Cymru i wneud yr un fath.
Cynhaliodd staff o’r elusen ganser fore coffi yn y Senedd yr wythnos hon, gan roi cyfle i Aelodau o’r Senedd ddysgu mwy am sut mae Macmillan yn cefnogi pobl sy’n byw gyda chanser.
Mae’r bore coffi blynyddol – sydd bellach yn 32 oed - yn codi arian hanfodol i wasanaethau Macmillan er mwyn sicrhau bod pobl sy’n byw gyda chanser yn cael y cymorth corfforol, emosiynol ac ariannol sydd ei angen arnyn nhw.
Meddai Natasha Asghar AS:
“Rwy’n hynod falch i fedru parhau i gefnogi bore coffi Macmillan a byddwn yn annog preswylwyr ledled De-Ddwyrain Cymru i gymryd rhan hefyd trwy drefnu digwyddiad neu fynychu un.
“Gall diagnosis canser droi bywyd wyneb i waered, ond mae’n hanfodol bod elusennau fel Macmillan yn gallu bod wrth law i gefnogi pobl yn ystod eu hawr o raid.
“Bydd yr arian sy’n cael ei godi yn y boreau coffi yn mynd ymhell i helpu pobl sydd â chanser i fyw eu bywydau mor llawn â phosibl a byddwn yn erfyn ar bawb i gymryd rhan a chefnogi’r achos gwych hwn.”
Meddai Richard Pugh, Pennaeth Gwasanaethau Cymorth Canser Macmillan yng Nghymru:
“Mae'n wych gallu cyfarfod ein Haelodau o’r Senedd wyneb yn wyneb unwaith eto yn y Senedd. Hoffem ddiolch o galon i Natasha Asghar AS am ei chefnogaeth i’n digwyddiad.
“Mae Macmillan a phobl â chanser angen cymorth y cyhoedd yn fwy nag erioed, dydy hynny ddim yn or-ddweud. Mae canser yn effeithio ar fywydau pobl - iechyd, arian, gwaith teulu; popeth.
“Daw 98% o gyllid Macmillan yn syth o roddion, a heb gefnogaeth barhaus y cyhoedd i’n Boreau Coffi i godi arian, gallai miloedd o bobl golli allan ar ofal hollbwysig gan ein nyrsys, cymorth ariannol mawr ei angen drwy grantiau Macmillan, neu’r gallu i gael mynediad at wybodaeth a chymorth personol, ar-lein neu dros y ffôn, y gellir ymddiried ynddynt.
“Does dim un ffordd benodol o gynnal bore coffi – gall fod beth bynnag sy’n mynd â’ch bryd, a gellir ei gynnal ar yr adeg sy’n fwyaf cyfleus i chi. Gobeithio y bydd pobl yn mynd ati i gynnal digwyddiad.”
Mae Bore Coffi Macmillan eleni ar ddydd Gwener 30 Medi, ond gellir cynnal digwyddiadau lleol gydol y flwyddyn.
